The Golden Orb Spider (Nephila maculate) makes huge golden colour webs, hence its name. The dimension of the web can go up to six metres high and two metres wide. Unlike other spider webs, the Golden Orb Spider’s web is not disassembled after use but has been observed to last several years within the exact location. The silk is so strong that even small birds fail to disentangle themselves when caught in the web.
