This remarkable animal is called a tardigrade. It is famous for surviving conditions that would kill most other animals. In its dormant, dehydrated state, a tardigrade can withstand extreme heat for short periods, freezing temperatures, the vacuum of space, and very high levels of X-ray and other ionising radiation.
