Why is a rainbow curved?

The curved shape of the rainbow is due to the reflection of the round shape of the sun. From the Earth’s perspective, part of the sun is blocked which causes rainbows to appear as half circle. If a person sees a rainbow below them from an aeroplane, the rainbow will appear as a full circle, rather than a quarter or half circle.
