The Aldabra white-throated rail bird went extinct which was caused by rising sea levels almost 100,000 years ago. This flightless bird evolved from an ancestral rail species that flew into and colonized the Aldabra Island. After going extinct about 100,000 years ago, this species re-evolved from the very same ancestral species in the exact same way.
